My Bio

MY STORY

Since 2023, i have been transforming a humble ½ acre lot into an urban homestead. What started as a single house on a big grassy empty lot, now has a 1,000 sqft garden with 12 raised beds, habitats for Pollinators, Chickens, a Communal space for gathering community and entertaining, and an Airbnb to host Guests and create revenue.

I have spent time in the indigenous forests of the Yucatan in Mexico, learning about local plants and cultivation methods. This has helped me broaden my perspective of growing food and resiliency outside of my own U.S.-based cultural context. In addition to living in Mexico, I have lived in Australia, Ireland, Spain and Germany.

More recently, I’ve completed my beginner Beekeeper training through Mecklenburg County Beekeepers Association.

I am an Airbnb Superhost, and currently integrating the garden into the overall guest experience.

My next endeavor is to become a Master Gardener and complete the NC State Extension Master Gardener℠ program of Mecklenburg County!

All of these experiences are building blocks to creating health, wealth and community. Thank you for joining this journey with me and I hope I can become a source of inspiration for you!

However, this journey didn’t just start in 2023 . . . it’s been a collection of experiences coming together, and my own lifelong connection to land and community that now has a place to grow and expand. I was lucky to grow up in a household where cooking from scratch (or semi-scratch!) and tossing ingredients from your home garden into meals was normal on a weekday night. Going grocery shopping also included stopping by the local farmers market to pick up seasonal fruits and vegetables.

As I got older, I wanted to deepen my understanding of growing food and creating a more resilient lifestyle. To achieve this, in 2015 I received my certification in Permaculture Design from the Regenerative Design Institute at Commonweal Garden in Bolinas, CA.
